Welcome to Darbyland….a land of strange and odd happenings….a place where doors do not open.....................................Or close… a place where food disappears in a blink of an eye...a place of rabbit’s tails and woolly socks…a place of hidden coins, rolling clouds and a brown leather satchel with a sketchbook full of train journeys…. Darby Hudson is a freelance illustrator and artist. Wind blows through twisted trees while a bird flaps its wings in flight and a crow cries in the distance. Darby is also accomplished in oil, acrylic and pastel. His drawings and cartoons have featured regularly in national and international publications; these include: The Chaser Newspaper, The Age, The Herald Sun, Limelight Magazine (abc), The Australian Book Review, Arena Magazine, Farrago, Lots Wife, Filmink Magazine, Artshub, Eureka Magazine, Child Magazine (Syd, Melb), Scene Magazine, Self Storage Magazine, The Drum Magazine, The Walkely Magazine, Cinema Papers, and Opium. Darby’s cartoons about love and its woes were the feature in the Myer windows on Valentine’s Day and Fashion on the Fields during Melbourne Cup. His Christmas and Fathers Day cartoons were also amongst Inkgroup’s greeting cards. He has also provided illustrations for Fenton Stephens Ad agency Melbourne and RedCandy Ad agency Brisbane. He is currently working on a book of cartoons and a children’s book and hopes to be published by the end of the year.
